"Providing professional leadership in Club Management..."

CONFERENCE 2003 A GREAT SUCCESS

Around 60 Educational programme delegates attended our Conference at Buxton, this year. There were a few new faces but mostly delegates who were making return visits. We were pleased to welcome our first time delegates as this is a part of the Association which we hope to grow during the next 12 months. The Association is most keen to attract new members to our Annual Conference as we believe that training is one of the keys to continual improvement for Club Managers.

This year, once again, new subjects were introduced to our Educational programme and this is one area where feedback from our delegates is so important as we identified the need for favoured and contemporary topics to appear.

But Conference is not just an opportunity to listen, it is also a time for Club Managers to reflect on their own aspirations for their clubs and businesses and look for new ways of helping and growing their own Membership.

The importance of providing some free time during Conference was again recognised and it was pleasing to see in the feedback that this was appreciated.

The Social programme is always designed to help delegates mix and to take the opportunity to network. The ever popular Games Night is a favoured feature and, once again, we thank THURSTON for providing this excellent icebreaker. The Conference Committee Race Night, again proved as popular as the previous year.

The Association provides this Conference for its Membership to allow them the opportunity to learn and network in a relaxed atmosphere set against a formal Education programme. This I feel, has again been achieved but would be much more successful with more attendees. Each Conference we produce is unique but the thread which holds them together is your attendance and your Committee will be going to great lengths to encourage more delegates to Conference 2004 at the New Oxford hotel.

Should any delegate or member from this or previous years have any recommendations or issues about Conference and how this major Association function may be improved, please contact myself on 01744 28866 or reply via email to glennrma@msn.com . It seems most likely that I will, once again be your Conference Chairman in 2004 and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the people who attended our Conference at Buxton and I hope I will see you all at Oxford in 2004.
